Enter the Sanctuary

Have you ever grumbled or complained about the apparent success of the ungodly?  Have you felt jealous of the wealth, the power and the prestige they display?  Have you wondered how it can be that some people have gained their wealth in a corrupt manner and selfishly hoard it while so many people are living in poverty and desperate need?

You are not the only one who has contemplated these questions.  A man named Asaph pondered these matters in Psalm 73.  "I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.  They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.  They are free from the burdens common to man; they are not plagued by human ills... This is what the wicked are like - always carefree, they increase in wealth" (Ps. 73:3, 4-5, 12Ps. 73:3, 4-5, 12
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. firm: Heb. fat 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. in...: Heb. in the trouble of other men like: Heb. with 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

).  Asaph even questioned the benefits of maintaining his integrity and he lamented, "When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to me" (Ps. 73:16Ps. 73:16
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; too...: Heb. labour in mine eyes

).

But then, instead of wallowing and complaining, Asaph did the right thing!  "I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny" (Ps. 73:17Ps. 73:17
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

).

It is only in the presence of God that we find peace of mind and gain divine understanding.

If you find yourself questioning things as Asaph did, it is probably a sign that you need to take more time out of your day to pray, meditate on God's Word and listen to His voice.  Then you can rest assured that the prosperity of the wicked will come to an end and you will say unto the Lord as Asaph did, "Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.  But as for me, it is good to be near God.  I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds" (Ps. 73:23-28Ps. 73:23-28
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. 24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. strength: Heb. rock 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Pecans in the Cemetery

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree
just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a
bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began
dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for
me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the
fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he
passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He
slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you,
one for me. One for you, one for me." He just knew what it was,
so he jumped back on his bike and rode off.

Now just around the bend he met an old man with a cane,
hobbling along. "Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe
what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing
up the souls."

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to
walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled to the
cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for
me. One for you, one for me..." The old man whispered, "Boy,
you've been tellin' the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord."
Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence yet were still
unable to see anything.

The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the
fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the
Lord.
At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's
go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done."

They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes
ahead of the boy on the bike!

Worry may actually shorten our life. DO NOT WORRY!

24 DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, FOR TOMORROW WILL WORRY ABOUT ITSELF. EACH DAY HAS ENOUGH TROUBLE OF ITS OWN. MATTHEW 6:34MATTHEW 6:34

In fact, some studies even show that worry may actually shorten our life!

Therefore instead of worrying CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY ON HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU. 1 PETER 5:71 PETER 5:7
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

After all what is worry anyway, but the opposite of faith! So, have faith and always turn your worries over to God! Then you will be able to say with confidence.....

"Why Worry About Tomorrow?"

Why worry about tomorrow
And the rising of the sun,
Of anguish over past mistakes
That cannot be undone?

Why waste life's precious moments
On things that bruise the heart
When today is ours to fashion
Into a work of art?

Today comes but once, my friend,
It never can return--
So use it wisely while you can,
There's a lesson you may learn.

Let history record the past
And tomorrow come what may.
Be content to do your best
With what you have today!
